8th WEEK REFLECTION

This week’s lecture, Professor Dr Rohaida discuss about Software Evaluation Rubric. When we assess a student, we use a rubric as a guidance to give valid and justified mark. In assessing particular software content or any application, we use a rubric to assess certain aspects such as accessibility, content, ease of use, support materials, and technical quality. These are some example of aspects to be assessed, however different rubric presents different aspects.

Rubrics make assessing software and websites or any application tool work quick and efficient, and they help teachers justify the usability of the tools. At their very best, rubrics are also teaching tools that support learning and the improvement of weaknesses of a software. When used correctly, they serve the purposes of learning as well as feedback which is essential for further upgrades.

We were assigned by Prof to find software evaluation rubric available in the internet and give our comments on the rubric. Here is an example of a rubric:

In our opinion, this rubric is very easy to use and the aspects covered are appropriate. It covers aspects like the content, ease of use, technical qualities and many more. There are many rubric which are very useful presented by other groups. As future teacher, this will assist and guide me in choosing the right software or websites so that it will be appropriate for students to use and access into it.
